The Book Fair is an annual fundraiser that is lots of fun and also a great way we get books for our classrooms and library. We have strong and passionate readers in our school and this event is always a big hit. Help create, organize, or staff the even, or just volunteer to be Clifford for a day. That’s an important job.
These fairs, held in the fall and spring in the garden, are our version of an old-fashioned country fair for the whole family, complete with food, games, crafts, and entertainment. Each class is responsible for one aspect of the fair, and parents pitch in to help organize and run the events
Renaissance Fridays, held several times during the school year, are a unique opportunity for our middle school students to take two-hour, small group classes from staff or parents on any subject that they would like to teach. Previous classes have included cooking, sports, computer graphics, or jewelry making. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate these days or to teach a class.
Make sure your classroom is up to date on what is going on with the Ark. This can be done by setting up a message board in the classroom, organizing a phone tree, and/or maintaining an email list for parents.
Follow in the footsteps of our own Jane Kleimo and help put on the renowned middle school play. These annual productions are spectacular, darling! Contact the Drama Program Coordinator.
You can help out in the garden in many ways: by assisting students during weekly garden classes, attending weekly weeding and tea parties, helping with outreach (Web page support, newsletters, signage) and special events (Harvest Fair, Fairy Festival)
Duties can be as simple as shelving books, reading to kids, or helping them select appropriate reading materials. There are also opportunities to be more involved with day-to-day operations, collection development, and other aspects of building our wonderful library
